Sir Alan Parker (natural February 14,1944) is a British film director, producer, writer, and actor who created most of his films in the United States. He is besides the introduction member of the Director's Guild of Great Britain.
Parker began retired as an advertising copywriter for advertising agencies in the 1960s and 1970s and began to write his own television commercial scripts. His virtually all celebrated & enduring operate has been a series of ad for Cinzano starring Leonard Rossiter and Joan Collins. Across his association by using producer David Puttnam he wrote the screenplay for the 1971 feature Melody.
Around 1978 Parker directed Midnight Express which was loved by critics and ended higher earning Parker the total of Oscar nominations, including Right Director & Best Picture. He was late nominated for Better Director for Mississippi Burning (1988).
Parker has directed the total of music-related motion picture including Bugsy Malone, (1976), Fame (1980), Pink Floyd The Wall (1982), The Commitments (1991) and a 1996 film Evita.
Parker was knighted in the New Year's Honours for 2002. He received the Honorary Doctorate of Arts from a University of Sunderland in 2005 of which his long time associate Lord Puttnam is chancellor.
